Transit Police work with the public to remove sexual offenders from transit

New Westminster – Thanks to the active role members of the public took in transit safety, Metro Vancouver Transit Police were recently able to arrest two repeat sexual assault suspects, and will be recommending multiple charges to be laid to the BC Prosecution Service.

One suspect committed his alleged crimes in Vancouver in July 2025, and the other in Surrey between April and July of this year.

Reducing sexual offences is a Transit Police operational priority and the police service works to hold all offenders accountable. In this case, the individuals who reported the offences that they experienced played a pivotal role by making the arrests possible, and interrupted the suspects’ alleged pattern of criminal behaviour. When crimes such as these are reported quickly, Transit Police detectives have more resources available to investigate crime and support transit users.
