Wherever transit takes you, we’re there – working to keep you safe.

Metro Vancouver Transit Police (MVTP) patrols North America’s fourth busiest transit system. We’re a regional police service – and the only police service in Canada dedicated to a transit system – serving 23 diverse communities, including one First Nation.

Our team is responsible for safety and security across the entire transit network – from Horseshoe Bay to Mission – patrolling roadways, heavy and light rail, bus routes, transit hubs, and a passenger ferry route, in an area that is expanding with the system.

Our frontline is staffed by police officers and Community Safety Officers – each plays a different role in making sure everyone feels safe in and around transit.
Our officers respond to emergencies, prevent and investigate crime, arrest offenders, enforce traffic laws, and perform community engagement and outreach . They also police in surrounding communities, working in partnership with police agencies in 17 different jurisdictions on transit-related initiatives and criminal activity.

Our team is part of every major event in the region, helping crowds getting safely to and from concerts, playoff games, festivals, and world-class events like the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Wherever transit takes you, we’re there – working to keep you safe.

We're growing. Grow with us.

Transit Police is growing with the system and we’re looking for experienced police officers, new recruits, Community Safety Officers, and civilian professionals who are excited by the idea of contributing to a progressive, community-based policing team.
