Tourist Arrested and Charged with Sexual Assault on Canada Line

New Westminster – A 44 year old tourist has been charged with Sexual Assault following an incident yesterday morning on the Canada Line.

Shortly after 9 am, Monday, March 9, 2015, Metro Vancouver Police Transit Police received a report of a sexual assault that had just occurred on the train between Yaletown Station and Vancouver City Station. Transit Police officers attended immediately and located both the victim and the suspect on the station platform.The victim advised that she boarded a northbound train at Yaletown and moved to the center of the full train where she stood, holding onto a center pole. She felt unwanted physical contact of a sexual nature and then saw a man’s hand groping her. She yelled at the man and insisted he get off the train with her at Vancouver City Station, where she reported the incident to a Canada Line Attendant.

Wolfgang Goffing, 44 years, was arrested without incident and has been charged with Sexual Assault. He has been deemed appropriate for release on a $5000 cash bond however, at the time of this release, the bond has not been posted. If the bond is not posted, Goffing will be subject to a Warrant of Remand, in custody, until March 16, 2015, at which time he will appear in Vancouver Provincial Court. Goffing has a history of sexual offences and was scheduled to return to Germany on March 15, 2015.
