Puppy Naming Contest Has a Winner

New Westminster – Metro Vancouver Transit Police are very pleased to announce that a winning name has been selected for our new puppy-in-training as an explosives detection dog.

The winning name for our 10 month old, female, chocolate lab is KONA. KONA means “Lady” in Hawaiian and of course, is a popular dark brown Hawaiian coffee.

The student who submitted the winning name is Kiana Onyango who attends Grade 7 at Aberdeen Elementary School in Kamloops, B.C. Congratulations to Kiana who will be receiving a visit at her schoolfrom KONA and her handler, Constable Aaron Chan.

Thank you to all those who submitted potential names for the puppy. It was a difficult decision as the quality of the entries was very high.

A further thank you to Global TV for their assistance in promoting the contest and introducing our puppy to the province.
