High Risk Offender Pleads Guilty to Sexual Assault

New Westminster – A 49 year old Coquitlam man charged with Sexual Assault, following an investigation by Metro Vancouver Transit Police, has pled guilty.

John Walter Sebela, was arrested at his residence in Coquitlam, on November 27, 2014, following an investigation by Transit Police into a report of the sexual assault of a 16 year old student. Sebela approached the young woman at the Lougheed Town Centre Bus Loop on November 24, 2014, touched her and made inappropriate comments before following her onto a bus. He then sat down beside her and sexually assaulted her before getting off the bus.

Sebela is very well known to police as a prolific offender and is currently listed on the High Risk Offender’s Program. He has been in custody since his arrest. Sentencing is scheduled for March 25, 2015.
